Former breakfast television presenter Louise Minchin has spoken of her worries about becoming a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this weekend in her final video message before entering the show.
Addressing her 93,000 followers on Instagram, the 53-year-old expressed her reservations about heading onto the primetime programme, which is infamous for its gruelling tasks and ‘bushtucker trials’, where competitors challenged to eat stomach-churning bugs and animal parts.
In the annotated video message released yesterday, Louise says:
“If you’re watching this video, it is official. I am on my way to the castle for this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
“I can hardly believe it, I’m super nervous and also really excited as well. it I’ve always been a massive fan of the show, and thought — sitting on my own sofa — that it looked like great fun”
“But now I’m faced with it I’m just like ‘what on earth have I done’. All I’m hoping is that it is good fun, it’s challenging that’s for sure, and above all that it makes you smile when you’re watching at home on the sofa, and that you enjoy it. Wish me all the luck in the world!”
The experienced journalist shocked viewers this summer when she tearfully quit BBC Breakfast after twenty years with the show.
She said she had made the decision as she wished to give up setting her alarm for ‘just past 3am’ every morning.
Returning to the BBC Breakfast sofa this week to discuss her entry onto the show, Louise said that while she was excited for the show, she also worried about not being able to see those closest to her while she stayed at the replacement location at Abergele, North Wales.
I’m A Celebrity will air on ITV1 in November and December, Sunday, November 21.
