Love Island’s Jake Cornish insists he’s no snake after being met with criticism from viewers ahead of his dramatic exit from the villa with ex-girlfriend Liberty Poole.
A couple of weeks ago during the ‘Movie Night’ challenge, Liberty was shown a clip of Jake chatting to the boys at the beginning of his Love Island journey.
Liberty was shocked when he saw him say that he didn’t fancy her enough to want to “rip her clothes off.”
Jake said to the Mirror that he was “just telling the truth.”
This revelation prompted major cracks in their relationship to appear.
In an episode last week, ahead of Liberty reaching breaking point and splitting with Jake, she spoke about her disappointment over him criticising her being ‘messy’ saying it gave him “the ick”.
Liberty was worried that Jake was “trying to change” her, so broke things off with her boyfriend after feeling as though he didn’t love her.
Jake has said: “It’s not a nice feeling to think that things I’ve said is coming across that I’m trying to make someone change.
“I’m not. Liberty is Lib. That’s the girl I fell in love with. I’m not trying to change her.”
Liberty reached breaking point last week when she realised the relationship was going nowhere, and on Friday after their ‘dream date’ on a yacht the pair agreed to split on good terms. exiting the villa as friends and leaving the remaining loved up couples to enjoy their final few days in the villa.
Jake said: “I’ve just got to be true to myself – if I was trying to have a game plan, I think I’d still be there, I wouldn’t have left.
“Actions speak for themselves. I’ve stepped aside from the people who have got something good going, let them enjoy their moment.”
