Love Island's meet the parents 'ruined' as Covid rules mean they can't hug

Love Island fans were left unimpressed on Sunday after they realised islanders were unable to hug their loved ones due to social distancing restrictions.

During the penultimate episode of the popular dating show, islanders get the opportunity to meet their parents and other members of their friends and family.

But this year, things took an unfortunate turn when islanders were not allowed to touch.

Viewers at home were left disappointed by the scenes and wondered why producers decided to bring the family members in at all if this was going to be the case.

Taking to Twitter one fan penned: “Aahh the fact that they can’t hug/touch each other is s*** what’s the point of bringing them in then?”

While another said: “F covid restrictions I would’ve ran and gave my family members hugs.”

A third commented: “As much as I have abided by the Covid restrictions the past 15 months, you could not tell me to social distance from my family when I’ve been living with strangers for 7 weeks and suffered emotional turmoil. I’m hugging my mum.”

“With all the restrictions that have been lifted it really annoyed me that the couples can’t even hug their families after so long especially when there would of been quarantine involved,” a fourth chimed.

Family were sitting a part from the islanders

While another confused fan questioned: “Why can’t they hug their families if they have been tested and most restrictions are gone.”

But despite the fact that the families were social distancing from their loved ones, emotions were still running high and the tears were certainly flowing.

Viewers at home were also moved by the emotional family scenes and took to Twitter again to share their views.

Things were still very emotional with islanders

One fan penned: “I’m so emotional watching this episode idk why.”

Another fan chimed: “Emotional wreck watching the family reunions on.”

A third said: “Got surprisingly emotional watching Kaz and Tyler’s family reunion! They’ve got lovely people around them and they’re just so happy for them.”

While another fan couldn’t help but shed a tear when islander Toby broke down in tears.

The fan tweeted: “Oh my god I’m actually going to cry seeing Toby be that emotional.”
