Laurence Fox has hit out at Meghan Markle, predicting she will “win an Oscar” for her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
She and husband Prince Harry, 36, sat down with Oprah to tell their stories of why they stepped back from the Royal Family, with Meghan suggesting that their son Archie was denied a title due to his skin colour.
Meghan, 39, also admitted she had felt suicidal while living in the UK, and that she was not able to access the help she needed.
Now, actor and failed London mayoral candidate Laurence Fox, who was married to actress Billie Piper from 2007 until 2016, has hit out at the Duchess of Sussex.
In an interview with Express.co.uk, the former Lewis star said of Meghan: “They love ‘wokey’ people in showbiz.”
He added: “I mean, if you’ve got the right views and she’s got all the right views.
“She will probably win an Oscar next year without having to be in a film – she certainly deserves one.”
Laurence also commented that Prince Harry never looks “comfortable” or like he’s “up for it” when the couple do things together – though Harry is often snapped grinning alongside his wife when making public appearances.
He also accused Meghan of “trying to bring down the monarchy”, siding with ex-Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan on his views of the former Suits actress.
Laurence has been an outspoken critic of Meghan ever since the Oprah interview aired, labelling her “the woke duchess of victimhood” on Twitter back in March.
He sparked fury with Meghan’s fans as he continued to attack the duchess, writing: “The woke duchess of victimhood has smeared the whole royal family with a charge of racism.
“Her majesty should take the titles away from these greedy, hypocritical, freeloading, narcissistic brats.
“They are the exact thing they accuse everyone else of,” he added at the time.
But the blistering attack drew criticism from Meghan’s supporters, with one replying at the time: “You are so wrong on this Laurence.”
“Woke isn’t an insult,” someone else pointed out.
At the time of the interview, Meghan said “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born” took place while she was pregnant with her first child.
“We have in tandem the conversation of ‘he won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he is born,” she explained.
However, both Meghan and Harry refused to say which member of the Royal Family had made the comment to Harry about Archie’s skin colour.
