Naga Munchetty was warned by her co-star Nick Hatfield when a BBC Radio 5Live discussion turned awkward.
The 46-year-old had been discussing running times with her co-star when he hit back “don’t embarrass me”.
She was called out after Naga admitted to being starstruck after interviewing one of her sporting heroes – Kenya’s long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge.
In 2019, Eliud became the first human in history to to run a marathon in under two hours and this inspired a a feature documentary – Kipchoge.
Beaming with pride, the BBC Breakfast host explained to Nick that meeting Eliud was a dream opportunity for her.
Naga exclaimed: “I’ve just spoken to the legend Eluid Kipchoge. How lucky am I?”
Nick added: “Were you a bit blown away by that?”
After the presenter had gleefully about her encounter, Nick wanted to share his own achievements.
He gushed: “I’ll tell you what, he’s got some competition after I ran 10k in 57 minutes the other day.”
Seemingly unimpressed, Naga hit back: “Competition for what?”
Laughing, Nick aired: “Competition for running.”
Quizzical Naga responded: “Are you sure?”
After a moment of awkwardness, Nick landed a quip about purchasing a “motorbike” in a bid to beat Eliud the long-distance runner.
Having done the maths, Naga told Nick: “10k… is 6.1 miles. In 57 minutes he would have done 13 miles.”
In reply, he scolded: “Alright Naga. Don’t embarrass me.”
Meanwhile, Naga who also likes to take part in a fair bit of running shared a selfie with her 46,000 Instagram followers at the weekend.
Looking sweaty from an intense jog, she captioned: “Back on it. Bring on the sunshine.”
