Paul Burrell says Prince Harry should 'speak up and defend his family' over HBO cartoon

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has criticised the animated satire, The Prince, and urged Prince Harry to “speak up and defend his family” instead of “seeing the funny side”of it.

Paul Burrell has opened up in an interview to share his disappointment in Prince Harry because he has not condemned the controversial animated series The Prince, that centres around his young nephew Prince George.

Sitting down with Closer Magazine, Princess Diana’s former butler criticised HBO Max’s animated satire, which has sparked a backlash over its decision to mock Prince George.

Prince Harry, who has two children – Archie and Lilibet – with his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has not condemned the controversial satire.

Prince Harry features in the show and is voiced by Hollywood pal Orlando Bloom, and is depicted as a lacking father who has to work at a coffee shop to pay the bills after his TV projects fail.

Paul told the publication that he believes it could be “extremely damaging to target a young boy and mock him” in the way the cartoonists have, and suggested that Prince Harry should “speak up and defend his family”.

The former Royal insider explained that he was ‘shocked’ to see the creator of the show appear on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month, claiming that Prince Harry “seemed to have a sense of humour about” the show.

Paul explained: “It seems ironic to me that while Meghan and Harry are happy to lend their voices to supporting mental health charities, they can’t seem to speak up and defend their family.

“I’ve seen The Prince and it’s extremely damaging to target a young boy and mock him in the way the cartoonists have done.”

The controversial cartoon has come under fire since it was launched, with several critics saying that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eight-year-old son should have been off limits, implying that the show shouldn’t have been allowed to air.
