Piers Morgan certainly isn’t one to keep secrets, especially when it comes to receiving “Royal gratitude”.
The former Good Morning Britain host has landed another bombshell, clamming that he had received messages on behalf of the Royal Family that expressed “gratitude someone was standing up for them”.
He alleged contact had been made following the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tell-all televised discussion with Oprah Winfrey.
The Life Stories host made the shocking admission during an Billy Bush, with the show Extra due to air on Tuesday evening.
When asked if any of the Royal Family had got in touch with him in the wake of the interview last month, Piers didn’t hold back with his his candid answer.
He replied: “I’ve had some messages communicated to me on behalf on several members of the Royal Family.”
In spite of the revelation he remained coy when it came to further details, reframing from naming specific Royal Family members who had reached out to him.
Piers abruptly said: “I’m not going to go into who it was… but gratitude that somebody was standing up.”
The former British breakfast host ending up walking away from a five year career with ITV after Meghan had explained to Oprah that her mental health issues had been overlooked while at the palace.
The Suits actress also claimed that a unknown member of the Royal Family had approached Harry to ask “how dark” their son’s skin might be.
Taking a seat on his usual platform Piers explained to millions of GMB viewers that he “didn’t believe” Meghan, in spite of her serious claims.
His lack of empathy seemed to fire up an on air debate in the newsroom, with weatherman Alex Beresford taking a number of swipes at Piers, after he’d adopted a very opposing view on the matter.
Alex was stopped in his tracks as an angry Piers got up from his seat and stormed off set, refusing to listen to the meteorologist.
Piers had racked up thousands of Ofcom complaints and even Meghan herself had filed her own grievances to the CEO of ITV.
The anchorman was ordered to apologise by the broadcasting giant but instead he defiantly refused and later handed in his notice.
