Richard Madeley led away by security after accidentally gatecrashing Netflix set

Richard Madeley was led away by security after accidentally gatecrashing the set of Ricky Gervais’ After Life.

The TV presenter, who has been tipped to become Piers Morgan’s replacement on Good Morning Britain, is well-known for his awkward gaffes over the years.

And the seasoned 64-year-old broadcaster succeeded in another hilarious faux-pas when he attempted to get a table at a restaurant, not knowing it had been closed to the public to film Ricky’s hit show.

Former This Morning presenter Richard was believed to have been left flustered as he was escorted from the premises by security guards.

Richard is seen pulling up in his cream Volkswagen Beatle and trying to get a bite to eat.

But much to his alarm the TV star is stopped in the road by a crew member wearing a Covid mask.

Richard and the crew member are pictured engaged in an animated conversation, whilst other crew members watch on.

And then comedian Ricky appears to see what all the commotion is about after filming is temporarily halted.

Ironically, Richard starred in an episode of Ricky’s hit show Extras back in 2006.

Richard is understood to have been told the restaurant and road are shut, so he’ll have to leave.

The presenter the climbs back into his car and drives off.

Richard’s latest gaffe comes after he has been given a trial to join the ITV news show GMB following Piers’ shock exit.

He has already stood in for Piers in the past and could land the gig permanently if he proves to be a success.

It comes after Piers quit in March after being asked to apologise by bosses for claiming he didn’t believe Meghan Markle’s claims in her Oprah interview.

“Piers is nigh-on impossible to replace and GMB execs accept this, but Richard has his own inimitable style,” a source revealed to The Sun.

“Like Piers, he’s a trained journalist who knows how to press guests and get a decent ‘line’ from interviewees.”

Richard himself stressed he would be “bonkers” not to consider taking the GMB hot seat.

Alongside his wife, Judy Finnigan, the pair were a huge success on popular show This Morning for many years.
