Sharon Osbourne's US TV career 'over' as she defends Piers Morgan

Sharon Osbourne could potentially lose her job at The Talk after sparking backlash recently as bookies haven’t ruled out her making her departure from the show.

The 68-year-old media personality recently landed herself in hot water after she defended Piers Morgan over his public scrutiny of Meghan Markle on Twitter.

Sharon’s The Talk co-star Sheryl Underwood held Osbourne to account during an episode after she controversially showed support to the former GMB presenter.

Osbourne reacted badly to this and became enraged live on air, sparking further outrage among viewers watching.

The Talk was then put on an extended hiatus as Sharon was faced with allegations of racism and bullying on the show, which she has denied.

Ladbrokes have put odds on Sharon leaving the programme at 3/1 as the bookies said they’re “not ruling out a surprise sacking”.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It looks as though Sharon’s position is safe for now, although we’re not yet ruling out a surprise sacking if the hit show’s fan base turns on her.”

Sharon’s outburst on the show sparked accusations of racism and the chat show has been taken off air due to an investigation.

During the heated The Talk moment, Sharon insisted her defence of Piers did not make her a racist.

Sheryl and Elaine Welteroth attempted to explain how they felt unconscious racism was playing a role in the situation, but Sharon became enraged.

She said: “I will ask you again Sheryl… And don’t try and cry because if anyone should be crying, it should be me… Where you have heard him say racist things? Educate me. Tell me”.

Sharon issued an apology after the heated TV moment as she said she had “felt blindsided” and had let her “fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over”.

The former X Factor judge then faced accusations of racism as a report on SubStack claimed sources had accused Sharon of using racial slurs against her former co-star Julie Chen.

Sources also claimed she had used derogatory language towards former show producer and co-host Sara Gilbert, who is a lesbian.

Following the racism and bullying allegations, Sharon’s spokesperson Howard Bragman said: “The only thing worse than a disgruntled former employee is a disgruntled former talk show host.

“For 11 years Sharon has been kind, collegial and friendly with her hosts as evidenced by throwing them parties, inviting them to her home in the UK and other gestures of kindness too many to name.

“Sharon is disappointed but unfazed and hardly surprised by the lies, the recasting of history and the bitterness coming out at this moment.”
