As one of the biggest girlbands of all time, the Spice Girls enjoyed a glittering career that took them across the globe in front of millions.
Singers Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Mel C soon became household names after bursting onto the scene in 1994.
Soon enough, each star claimed their own stage name persona – with Mel B taking Scary Spice, Mel C as Sporty Spice, Emma as Baby Spice and Geri as Ginger Spice.
The girls became the biggest sensational in the music industry, with tickets to their shows selling out in a matter of minutes.

However it’s not always been smooth sailing at the top, and the girls were often embroiled in countless scandals behind closed doors.
From Mel B and Geri’s rumoured night of passion to Mel C nearly getting the axe from the group, the Spice Girls’ time in the spotlight was certainly eventful.
Here Daily Star takes a look at the Spice Girls’ wildest moments on the day the iconic girl group formed 28 years ago.
Mel B and Geri’s rumoured ‘romp’

Scary Spice and Singer Spice hit headlines after it was rumoured that the pair had sex.
Mel B claimed she got sexually intimate with Geri – something Geri has strongly denied ever since.
In 2019, Mel B decided to go public with the claim after more than two decades of keeping it quiet.
Admitting it was just about sex, Mel B recalled: “We were best friends. It just happened. It wasn’t a thing. It just happened.
“We just giggled at it and that was it. It just happens one time and then you talk about it and it does not really happen again.
“It was just that one time. I am an honest person and the reason why I didn’t put it in my book was because that was not what my book was about.
“It was brutally honest in a different way. She had great boobs,” she cheekily added.

And when Mel B appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2019, Piers asked her point blank: “Did or didn’t you sleep with Geri Halliwell? Did you sleep with her?”
“Yeah,” Mel B replied. “We all slept in a bed together, but not like that, all of us.”
Piers then pressed on: “Did you sleep with Geri like that?”
To which Mel B nodded and smiled. Meanwhile, Geri fumed.
Geri later released a statement about the claim, adding that it’s “very disappointing to read about all these rumours again”.
The statement went on: “She would like [the fans] to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family.”
Mel B vs Victoria’s unusual spat

Mel B and Victoria got into it for the first time in 1995.
During a Spice Girls holiday to Hawaii, Victoria spotted Mel’s boyfriend doing a number two on the sand before rinsing himself off in the sea.
Horrified at what she saw, Victoria and Mel argued over the disgusting act.
In Mel’s first memoir she told of the passionate holiday romance with the man called Nalu.
“I ended going off with Nalu for nights on end, sleeping rough under the stars or in his little car. A proper holiday romance,” she wrote.
However the romance was slightly killed off after Victoria saw Nalu empty himself on the beach.
Posh then told Mel: “Doesn’t he know what a toilet is? It’s disgusting.”
Mel C’s near axe from band

Mel C was actually almost kicked out of the band soon after it was formed.
The nasty spat with Victoria saw Mel tell her to “f**k off” backstage at the 1996 Brit Awards.
The argument got so bad that managers threatened Mel they’d kick her out if she didn’t stop.
“We’d all had a few bevvies and on the way out there was a little scuffle between myself and Victoria,” she previously told Radio 4.
“We can’t say this on air but I asked her to go away. I was told if that behaviour ever happened again, then I would be out.”
And despite her staying in the group, the ordeal caused Mel to mount pressure on herself which didn’t bode well for her health.
Soon, her mental health was in decline, and she suffered depression and eating disorders thereafter.
“I was so hurt and embarrassed,” she explained. “To think I could have messed that up and lost it all… I began to be really, really hard on myself.
“I think that is where the start of some of my problems came because I had to be very, very strict with myself. I couldn’t allow myself to relax because if I did I might mess it all up.”
Mel B vs Mel C’s physical brawls and ‘split lips’

Though usually things never got physical during arguments, the same cannot be said for Mel B and Mel C.
Scary and Sporty often got into it – resulting in physical brawls and even split lips.
Mel B admitted she and Sporty knew how to push each other’s buttons as they’d often have “punch-ups”.
When asked if the fights ever did too much damage, Mel B said: “Oh, nothing. Maybe a split lip, that’s all. Me and Melanie would irritate each other. It would always start off with a shove not a punch.
“Mel C’s pretty hard. And if she let rip…”

One one boozy night out in particular, the girls came to fisty-cuffs after having too much to drink.
“We were too drunk. We got a bit pushy, shovey and Geri stepped in the middle to break it up and ended up getting punched in the face,” Mel C told Fabulous mag.
“Then Melanie went off to be sick, and because she’d been drinking too much port she accused me of making her bleed!”
The pair have since been able to start afresh, with Mel B admitting: “I’ve had punch-ups with Mel C in the past. But we have unconditional love for each other underneath it all.”
Iconic reunion minus Posh

It’s no secret that Victoria sensationally snubbed the chance to join her former bandmates on their epic reunion tour.
In 2019, the Spice Girls – minus Victoria – embarked on an iconic worldwide reunion that sold out in a matter of minutes.
It was no doubt surprising that Victoria didn’t want to join, considering how much her being in the band has done for her.
Speaking to Vogue Germany about her decision to snub the reunion, Posh said the decision not to participate required “courage”.
“It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, ‘You know, I’m not doing it because things feel different now than they used to,” she said.
“I’d rather concentrate on my family and my company.”

Fashion designer Victoria confessed last year that she ended up feeling left out when she saw the girls take to the stage without her.
She said: “I’m sure when I’m there and they are on stage, there will be a part of me that feels a bit left out.
“Because even after all this, a part of me will always be a Spice Girl.”
Despite her saying no, it seems as though Victoria might just be coming round to the idea.
Last year, it was reported that Victoria is considering a dramatic U-turn by returning to the Spice Girls.

She’s said to be tempted by a comeback after husband David decided to spend more time in the US focusing on his football team Inter Miami.
A source close to the mum-of-four told New magazine: “With David soon set to return to Miami, Victoria is worried about spending long chunks of time apart from him again and has been thinking about how nice it would be to regroup with the girls on a friendship level.
“She hopes if he joined them for a reunion it would do just that, as she’s admitted to pals she’s been feeling rather lonely lately.
“Her friends have disbanded across the world, like Eva Longoria who is miles away, and Tana Ramsay is busy with her baby and brood of kids.”
