Olympic champion Adam Peaty has been announced as the latest celeb to join Strictly Come Dancing for its new and upcoming 2021 series.
The champion swimmer won Team GB’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in July when he won the 100m breaststroke with a time of 57.37 seconds – defending his previous Olympic title with a dominant victory.
The 26-year-old also won a silver medal for Great Britain in the mixed 4 x 100 metre medley relay – even setting a world record time in the event.
However, the winning athlete will soon be swapping his swimming gear for his dance shoes as he takes to the famous BBC dancefloor.
The swimmer has been confirmed as the 13th contestant to join the famous dancing show, which will return for its nineteenth series on BBC One in September.

The celebrity line-up includes stars like BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, Gordon Ramsay’s influencer daughter, Tilly Ramsay, Hollyoaks’ Katie McGlynn, and Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies.
The candidates so far also include CBBC presenter Rhys Stevenson, Bake Off winner John Whaite, actor Robert Webb, Sky presenter AJ Odudu and McFly’s Tom Fletcher.
The series will also make history as it signed up its first ever deaf contestant in EastEnders actor Rose Ayling-Ellis. – who was announced as the 12th candidate yesterday.
“To be the first deaf contestant on Strictly Come Dancing is sooooo exciting.. and a little bit scary. It is the hardest secret I have ever had to keep so it feels amazing to finally have this out in the open! I hope I will do the deaf community proud and break down more barriers.”

Fifteen stars will battle it out on the hit dancing competition to get their hands on the glitterball trophy.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return for its nineteenth series on BBC One later in September.
The 2021 show will see the first ever all-male partnership take to the iconic TV dancefloor.

It follows last year, when boxer Nicola Adams was the first to have a same-sex partner in the TV competition, as she was paired with professional dancer Katya Jones.
There is also a new judging panel – with fan favourite Anton Du Beke replacing Bruno Toniolo to give his verdict on the dancers after shooting to fame as a dancer on the show.
