The Wheel's Michael McIntyre makes cheeky Love Island dig at Alex George

The Wheel host Michael McIntyre made a seriously cheeky dig at Love Island ‘s doctor Alex George during Saturday night’s episode.

When the Welsh lad was on Love Island in 2018, he was known among viewers for turning red under the sun while his co-stars all managed to top up their tans.

During this weekend’s episode of The Wheel, contestant Abigail chose a question about soul music and wondered whether it was a good idea to put Alex in the red zone.

The doctor, who has been working on the frontline during the pandemic, seemed to agree it was a good decision.

He said: “The problem is, the show I went on about love, I didn’t do too well on, if you’re going down that route.”

And cheeky Michael added: “He didn’t go brown in the sun, he went redder – so should we put him even redder now?”

Abigail went with Alex and he turned red, meaning she would be knocked out if the wheel landed on him.

Michael laughed: “Oh, yes, you look more like you were on Love Island.”

Meanwhile, viewers couldn’t help gushing over the television doctor, after he returned to work after Love Island while his co-stars became full-time influencers.

One said: “I’ll always have such massive respect for Dr Alex he left Love Island and went back to the NHS and being a doctor rather than a full time influencer.”

Another said: “Explaining to my partner who Dr Alex is and why I have so much respect for him on The Wheel has made me realise just how much respect I have for him.”

A third added: “I’ve got to say I do love doctor Alex I’m not proud of myself.”

Many of Alex’s showbiz pals and former co-stars have jetted off to Dubai while the UK has been plunged into another lockdown.

They claim to be working out there, with the professional influencers sharing snaps with computers in the background, while others have revealed they have rooms in their rented Dubai pads specifically for taking social media snaps.

But public opinion appears to be turning against them, as they live it up in Dubai, seemingly ignoring the fact that there is a global pandemic.
