Thomas Markle thinks leaving the Royals was Harry and Meghan's 'biggest mistake'

Meghan Markle’s estranged father thinks leaving the royals was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “biggest mistake” as they were “loved” by the British public.

Opening up during an explosive 60 Minutes Australia interview, Thomas shared that he doesn’t think the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “taking the right path” and he’s unsure what their “ultimate plan is”.

He explained: “Leaving the royals [is the pair’s biggest mistake] because that was what she married in to. That is what was explained to her.”

He continued: “The people of England loved her and loved Harry and they were the stars. And everybody loved them in England.

“Then they walked away from that, and so when they did that, they walked away from the people too.

“I think that was a mistake. I think they could have worked it out there.”

The interviewer then asked Thomas if he has any advice for Prince Harry.

Thomas responded: “Yeah, stop talking about the Royals, stop giving away all the secrets about the royals and love your children and love your wife.

“But also love your grandmother and love your father.”

The interviewer then interjected and said: “And your father-in-law,” to which Thomas replied and said: “Well that would be nice. If he met me he might.

“You know, I’m not an unlikeable guy.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Thomas, 76, said he thinks Oprah Winfrey is “playing” Harry and Meghan in a bid to cash in.

He shared: “I think Oprah Winfrey is playing Harry and Meghan.

“I think she’s using them to build her network and build her new shows.

“I think she’s taking advantage of a very weakened man and getting him to say things that you just shouldn’t be saying on television.”

The 60 Minutes Australia interview then said: “So, you think Oprah has seen, I guess, the frailties of Harry and Meghan and decided to then cash in on that?”

“I think so,” Thomas replied. “I mean she might disagree with that and she might even sue me – I don’t care – but the bottom line is, to me, it seems like she’s working Harry.”
