TOWIE bosses have made the decision to axe a whopping ten cast members from its lineup, as producers confirm they want to focus on a “smaller group”.
The biggest cull ever made by the ITVBe Essex based show has left stars such as Courtney Green, 26, and best friend Chloe Meadows, 28, being cut out of the reality series.
The besties first joined the series back in 2015 but are a part of a new initiative to breathe new life into the reality programme after ratings have dropped.
Kelsey Stratford, 20, and Clelia Theodorou, 26, have also been let go by bosses, alongside Harry Lee, 26.
According to reports, Harry Lee’s pal Tom McDonnell, 26, is also part of the big axe and won’t be returning to the series either.
Keeping their places, James Lock, 34, Pete Wicks, 32, and Amber Turner, 28, will remain on the show, alongside family members Chloe Sims, 38, and her sisters, Frankie, 26, and Demi, 24.
It has also been confirmed that Chloe Brockett, 20 will remain in the cast.
OG TOWIE girl Amy Childs, 31, rejoined the series in 2020 and will keep her spot on the programme but her cousin Harry Derbidge, 27, will be a goner.
TOWIE bosses revealed on Wednesday night that “the next instalment of the show returns to Essex to follow a smaller group of cast members”.
In a statement, producers said: “This change allows our cast more time to film their real lives, showing more of their personal passions and professions.”
A source told MailOnline: “Courtney and Chloe are gutted, they thought they were part of the furniture. But bosses feel the ruthless cull was needed to shake up the show.
“Many of the stars are yet to be told ahead of meetings scheduled with producers today and are preparing themselves for the worst. It will be devastating for so many of them.”
Nicole Bass will also be leaving the Essex series who is apparently left “devastated” by the news.
An insider close to the 29-year-old star, who joined the show in 2015 and returned last year, told MailOnline she is disappointed with the decision after only recently rejoining the cast following a six-year gap.
A source told MailOnline: “The cast who are yet to learn their fate are expecting the younger members of the show to go, but the older stars are still worried they might be given the boot.
“For some people, TOWIE is their life but others have careers outside of the show, so won’t take it as badly.”
