Following 20 years of presenting BBC Breakfast’s “after the summer”, Louise Minchin announced on June 8 that she would be leaving the show.
The 53-year-old journalist born in British Hong Kong has presented various notable shows including BBC News at One, Missing Live, The One Show and Real Rescues.
Louise first joined the BBC, back in 2001 when she worked as a freelance presenter. She went on to replace Welsh journalist, Sian Williams, as a regular anchor in 2006.
The mum-of-two was recognisable to millions of viewers as she would co-host BBC Breakfast three days a week alongside with journalist, Dan Walker.
Despite playing an important and noteworthy role on British telly, Louise felt that it was time for her to move on, as she announced her exit live while on air.
Back in June, she appeared at her long-time work place and told the viewers: “Let me take a deep breath, everybody there is something I want to tell you about.”
She continued her emotional statement: “It will be this year 20 years since I first presented this programme.
“Since then I’ve felt part of a huge, enormous BBC Breakfast family which includes everyone who works here, everyone on the team and everyone of you who watches the programme.
“I’ve loved being part of it, but – there is a but – I’ve decided that it is time that I stop setting my alarm for 3.40 – sometimes if I’m feeling really rebellious 3.46 in the morning – and I’m going to be leaving the programme.
“It’s not going to be for a while, but before anything else, I wanted to thank everybody who is watching for your loyalty and support over all these years.
“I have absolutely loved being part of it and I will really miss it but it’s time now to stop that alarm early in the morning. Thank you for watching all these years.”

As Louise Minchin made her final BBC Breakfast appearance on BBC One at 6am, on Wednesday, September 15, her replacement is yet to be confirmed.
Sally Nugent has been tipped to take on the job, as she is currently serving as the show’s main relief presenter.
There are many other guesses being made about who might be filling Louise’s spot.

Kay Burley, Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford and even Piers Morgan have been suggested to replace the BBC One presenter.
Despite the numerous suggestions, the BBC has advertised a job vacancy for a chief presenter on BBC Breakfast on their careers website, in which they stated that they were looking for someone to “work with Dan Walker, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on the UK’s most-watched morning show”.
As viewers await for BBC Breakfast’s new co-host to be revealed, Dan has expressed his feelings on Twitter: “I can’t believe it has come about so quickly.
“After 5-and-a-half years sharing a sofa with this wonderful woman… tomorrow is @louiseminchin’s last day on #BBCBreakfast
“I hope you can join us to say ‘goodbye’.”
