BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt was replaced on the famous red sofa this week as the BBC aired a major format change.
The famed BBC presenter often presents the hit breakfast show on Thursday to Saturday, alongside his co-star Naga Munchetty.
However, Charlie was missing from Saturday morning’s show (April 30), and instead he was replaced by his co-star Ben Thompson who was seen next to Naga.
Ben and Naga brought the biggest news stories to viewers getting an early start to their May Bank holiday weekend, including the latest developments in Ukraine war.
It’s not clear why Charlie didn’t appear on the red sofa, but it’s not the first time the show has undergone a change in presenter for its regular broadcast.
Ben joined the BBC in 2001 at Radio Wales in Cardiff, and his impressive broadcasting career has seen him fly all over the world.
The journalist late joined BBC Breakfast as a producer after working in the Business & Economics Unit of BBC News.
He went on to become the BBC’s Middle East Business Correspondent, where he was based in Dubai and travelled to many countries in the region, from Egypt and Algeria to Syria and Lebanon.
Another of his BBC roles came when he worked on New York’s Wall Street as the BBC’s North America Business Correspondent.
He was even the BBC’s Business Presenter for a time, but now he regularly presents on Breakfast and co-hosts Business Live, the BBC’s daily business show, on BBC News and BBC World News.
Charlie Stayt joined BBC Breakfast in 2006 as one of the channels relief presenters, but he became a permanent fixture on camera in December 2007.
