BBC Breakfast ‘s Dan Walker abruptly told weather reporter Carol Kirkwood to “hold on” after she reported some disappointing news.
Strictly Come Dancing fan favourite Dan, who wore a smart black suit with a purple tie, and Sally Nugent, who wore a high neck white top, hosted the early morning BBC show.
After they had discussed a few topical stories, the pair cut over to Carol Kirkwood for her usual weather bulletin.
She addressed the nation and informed viewers about the unusually warm weather for this time of year and gave a summary of the forecast for the week ahead.
Carol, who wore her signature blonde bob in a curled style with a spring-like floral patterned shirt, then spoke directly to the presenters.
She said: “Sal and Dan, you may not like this as much but Tuesday and Wednesday next week, for some of us will be ten degrees lower than they’re going to be today.”
An unhappy Sally gasped in shock as a disappointed Dan told her to “hold on” as he’d “already put his big coat away”.
Carol laughed and told him to “get it back out again”.
Dan then told her: “You had a t-shirt on yesterday, I thought: ‘That’s it, summer is here!’ Ok, I shall heed your warning. Thanks Carol.”
Earlier in the show, Dan also mentioned that he “needed a Carol in his life” after she gave good news about the weather.
Sally agreed and said needed one “everyday” before they welcomed her to the show and asked for a weather update.
She explained that there will be “a lot of sunshine around” that will make the weather feel “pleasantly warm” with some “gentle breezes”.
Carol also tweeted the news from her official Twitter account: “Don’t put away your warm clothes just yet! At the moment it looks like next Tuesday/Wednesday are going to be colder. For some parts of the UK there will be a 10 degree drop in temperature compared to today,” and signed off with kisses.
Fans were understandably upset by the news that the warm weather won’t last for long and took the chance to reply to the meteorologist.
One thanked her for the “heads up” while another said that they “never put coats away before April or May”.
Carol also informed her followers that yesterday, 22 March, was the warmest day of the year so far as Porthmadog reached 20 degrees.
