BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty was left thrilled during Friday morning’s show, as her co-star chimed in with a huge job announcement.
Naga was presenting the show alongside Jon Kay, with usual presenter Charlie Stayt still missing from the show amid an unexplained absence.
But it was business expert Ben Boulos who Naga couldn’t help but congratulate as he shared some huge job news with the public.
Ben, who presents BBC News and BBC World News, is stepping in as Breakfast’s resident business correspondent in place of Ben Thompson, who announced he was stepping down from the role back in December.
Taking to Twitter, Ben teased the news with a cheeky snap of the Salford-based studios, captioning the snap: “The bright lights beckon…”
He later shared a video with his eager fans, writing: “One final clue at 0559… just before the big moment @BBCBreakfast.”
In the video, he could be heard saying: “Well, here’s one last clue – I’m on the famous red sofa. I’m in Salford. With me, Naga, Jon, Mike. It’s almost six o’clock.
“So yes, you’ve guessed it correctly!”
Naga could be heard chiming in: “It’s gonna be so much fun!”
Ben added: “I’m very excited, I hope you can join us.”
Fans were similarly thrilled by the news, with one tweeting: “This surely can only mean that you’re taking over the ‘Ben on Biz on Breakfast on Fridays’ slot from@BBCBenThompson Ben? That’s a lot of Bens!”
Someone else penned: “Making Friday morning that little bit brighter…”
As another fan cheered: “You were magnificent. Already imagining you on Strictly!”
His predecessor Ben Thompson initially announced: “I’m hanging up my @BBCBreakfast hard hat and hi-vis in the New Year, so here’s a little thread of some of my ten years on the road, getting access to some of the most interesting and amazing businesses, and taking you with us.
“Starting out was terrifying but I quickly learned that you’re in safe hands with the brilliant @BBCBreakfast team. We moved from Television Centre in London to MediaCity in Salford in 2012.”
Ben concluded: “Thank you to everyone running a business, big or small, for letting us in, letting us poke around and ask questions. I’m in awe of how resilient and determined you are. You just crack on.”
However, he has since been back as a temporary co-presenter alongside both Sally Nugent and Katherine Downes.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
