Happy Mondays dancer Bez was voted out of Dancing On Ice at the weekend, after losing to Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor in the skate off.
The judges all chose to save Sally and her professional dance partner Matt from elimination, after their performances to songs from The Sound of Music and by hit seventies group The Carpenters.
However it meant that Bez was the next contestant to leave the competition after a memorable few weeks on the programme.
Since making his debut during week one, Bez has delighted fans with his outrageous performances – and Daily Star has taken a look at some of his wildest Dancing On Ice routines.
Dancing watermelons
Bez made his Dancing On Ice debut with a performance inspired by his days as part of the Happy Mondays.
The star skated to hit song Step On, which features the memorable line “you’re twisting my melon man.”
In homage to the lyric, Bez stepped onto the ice wearing a melon themed crash helmet and was later joined by a group of dancing watermelons.
His debut performance sent fans wild, with one tweeting: “Campaign to keep #Bez in!! Best thing ever on @dancingonice @Happy_Mondays we need more of this on a Sunday night!!”
A second commented: “Bez on DOI is quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever seen #DancingOnIce,” while a third added: “Bez to win! That’s it that’s the tweet. #dancingonice.”
It was enough to send him straight through to the second week of the competition too, where he delighted fans with more theatrical performances.
Indiana Jones inspiration
Bez’s Dancing On Ice performances got bigger and better each week, taking inspiration from all areas of pop culture.
His routines became more elaborate too, especially when the dancer channelled his inner Indiana Jones in week three.
He and professional dance partner Angela Egan were dressed as characters from the Indiana Jones films, with the duo skating away from a giant boulder.
If that wasn’t enough, Bez even performed lines from the films and jumped off the ice rink and performed an incredible rolling stunt off the stage.
“Things I never thought I’d see: Bez… dressed as Indiana Jones… on ice!!! Love him! #DancingOnIce,” said one viewer on social media.
A second added: “Bez is a real tonic isn’t he. Go onnnnnn. #DancingOnIce”
Meat Loaf tribute
Bez and professional skating partner Angela Egan paid tribute to late rock legend Meat Loaf during musicals week by performing a dance routine to his biggest hit, Bat Out of Hell – making history in the process.
For the performance, Bez descended to the stage on a giant bat, while huge flames rose behind him as he stepped onto the ice.
Fans went wild for the performance, with one saying on social media: “YES Bez, what a truly unbelievable tribute to Meatloaf seriously.”
A second said: “Obviously not the best skater ever unfortunately but still have to hand it to him literally never fails to totally impress does he? Absolutely love him.”
However despite delighting fans with his tribute, he was voted out during the skate off against Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor.
Regardless, Bez made history with the most elaborate performance that Dancing On Ice has ever seen, with Judge Christopher Dean saying: “It was the biggest production we’ve ever had.”
