Caitlyn Jenner swipes at Piers Morgan on air for 'sensationalising' Trump chat

Caitlyn Jenner revealed that she believed she would be “sensationalised” by Piers Morgan after his “explosive” Donald Trump promo.

During tonight’s episode (April 28) of Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show Uncensored, Caitlyn dived straight in and explained why she previously cancelled her appearance.

The 72-year-old said: “I saw what you did to President Trump, our president who I have a lot of respect for. He was walking out and you sensationalised the promo to build up ratings and I thought to myself I don’t want to be a part of that, and so I cancelled.”

The former athlete went on to clarify that since then, she’s had “a chance to talk” to the broadcaster and said: “I feel pretty confident that you won’t do that to me.”

After sharing Caitlyn’s explanation on Twitter, Piers retweeted it and wrote: Promo-gate put to bed” which was accompanied by a crying-laughing emoji.

Last week, Donald trump accused Piers Morgan of promoting “fake news” after he released a promo for their interview.

The former Good Morning Britain host shared the edited clip on his Twitter page which made it seem like the former president had got frustrated and stormed out.

Caitlyn clarified that she had since spoken to Piers and said: “I feel pretty confident that you won’t do that to me.”

In what was dubbed, “The most explosive interview of the year”, the 75-year-old was heard telling Piers: “I don’t think you’re real” before standing up and saying “turn the camera off” as he proceeded to leave the interview.

In a statement, Trump claimed the clip was altered to make him look bad.

He said: “Piers Morgan, like the rest of the fake news media, attempted to unlawfully and deceptively edit his long and tedious interview.

“He wanted to make it look like I walked out on the interview when my time limit of 20 minutes went over by an hour.”

Addressing Trump’s “explosive” walkout on the second episode of Uncensored, Piers said: “The truth is, Trump clearly left very irritated, mainly because of his incredibly incompetent Director of Communications.”

Taylor Budowich, Trump’s Director of Communications, took to Twitter a few days prior and claimed Piers’ 30-second teaser clip of the interview was “a pathetic attempt to use President Trump as a way to revive the career of a failed television host.”

Piers then fired back as he called him “incredibly irritating and incompetent” and said he doesn’t feel Budowich should be issuing “those kinds of statements” given his own “pathetic and failed attempt” to stop the interview.
