A man was maced and hauled off in handcuffs for heckling Chris Rock at the comic’s first gig since his Oscars attack.
It came as the comedian told a sell-out crowd he was “still processing” being slapped on stage by Will Smith at Monday’s awards ceremony.
The heckler was sprayed by security guards after Rock’s stand-up gig was interrupted by shouts of “Will Smith”.
The audience member was physically ejected and forced to the ground by police who handcuffed him before leading him away.
Bemused Rock, 57, asked the audience: “Is this how this tour is going to go?’’
The heckler’s treatment was in sharp contrast to Smith’s.
The Hollywood superstar was allowed to collect his Oscar for Best Actor, despite his attack on live TV.
On Wednesday (March 30), Rock asked the 3,000-strong crowd at his Wilbur Theatre gig in Boston: “Sooooo, how was your weekend?’’
With tears in his eyes, he went on: “Let me be all misty and s***. I don’t have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that… I’m still processing what happened so at some point I’ll talk about that s***.
“It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny. But right now I’m going to tell some jokes.’’
He also revealed that Smith, 53, had still not spoken to
him personally, “despite what you heard”.
Meanwhile, the Academy’s board of governors has launched disciplinary proceedings against Smith.
Chris is currently on his Ego Death Tour which is touring around America.
The tour has seen a boost in ticket sales since the Oscars, with Wednesday’s two shows in Boston sold out.
Will has since issued an apology to Chris, and in a statement on Instagram called his behaviour “unacceptable and inexcusable”.
The King Richard actor penned: “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.
“My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes a my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.”
