Coronation Street Fiz star doesn't let kids watch ITV soap in case they copy 'rude' Hope

Soap star Jennie McAlpine makes sure her nippers don’t see her on telly as Fiz on Corrie.

The actress has two kids – Albert, eight, and Hilda, four – with restaurant owner husband Chris Farr and fears her on-screen drama might upset them.

Jennie, 38, explained: “I don’t want to show them scenes of me crying and I don’t want them to see Fiz’s daughter Hope being rude to her, it might give them ideas!

“If I was a different character, it might be easier for them to watch, but Fiz has too many troubles and traumas.

“It would be confusing to Hilda, and Albert is totally indifferent. Because I don’t play for Manchester United, I’m not his kind of celebrity.”

Jennie said that starring in Coronation Street has also messed up her Christmas plans – because she filmed the festive episodes months ago.

She revealed: “Because we film the Corrie Christmas in October, I get confused.

“I go out and buy a few things, so it feels like I’ve done Christmas.

“And then a week before it actually arrives, I think, ‘Oh my gosh! I’d better get the rest done!’

“It’s unicorns for Hilda. But I need to nail down the list, because I think she might be thinking of a real unicorn, as she does have quite a lot of other unicorn things, so we’ll see.

“And for Albert it’s football stuff – England and Manchester United.”

Jennie also told Best magazine that she is planning a big family holiday next year because her youngest child has never been abroad.

She added: “Because of the two years of the pandemic there’s so much she’s missed out on.

“We haven’t been on an aeroplane since Covid, but she’s only four so there’s time.

“Some people get to 70 and they’ve never been on a plane. And we’re saving the planet, so it’s all good.

“But the other day she said: ‘I’ve never been to a zoo. The only animals I’ve met are a goat, a horse and a cow.’ So, we need to rectify that first!”

Coronation Street airs on ITV and ITVX
