David Hasselhoff admits being star is 'tiring' as he suffers sleepless nights

David Hasselhoff says he fancies a break from the hassle of being The Hoff.

The Baywatch star sees being himself as “work” which he can never escape.

He feels he has to be “charming and funny” at all times to avoid disappointing his fans.

He told Reader’s Digest magazine: “From the moment I wake up it’s like I’m The Hoff.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve gotta go to work’. I have to be on all the time. I wasn’t really on yesterday.

“I was tired the night before and I couldn’t sleep. It’s funny because when I’m working I have to be David Hasselhoff, to be charming and funny.

He added: “But sometimes I just want to stay home and watch television with my wife.’’

Earlier this year, The Hoff reunited with his former Baywatch pals as they celebrated his 70th birthday with a lavish bash in California.

The cast dined it up at a swanky restaurant with castmates Parker Stevenson, Kelly Packard, David Chokachi and Jeremy Jackson – along with a clown on stilts.

The actor played lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch for 11 years, starred in Knight Rider for four and featured in US soap The Young and The Restless for another seven setting a Guinness World Record as the most watched man on TV.

He has also had a triple platinum album in Europe, No1 singles in Germany and Switzerland and judged Britain’s Got Talent and its American equivalent.

The Hoff shared a video on Instagram showing his guests singing Happy Birthday, while he blew out the candles on a huge three-tiered cake and bellowed: “Seventy!”

“I’m in the 70s club now,” the Knight Rider actor captioned the post.

“Happy birthday to me see you all soon.”

Kelly, who starred as April Giminski in the smash hit series, shared a few snaps from the bash online too.

“Happy birthday to the man, the myth, the legend!” she wrote alongside one of her and David hugging.
