Danny Dyer is reportedly at the top of the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! wish list this year.
The reality TV show looks set to return to the Australian jungle after being held in Wales for two years because of the coronavirus pandemic, and producers think EastEnders star Danny would make the perfect camper.
As the actor is set to leave Albert Square this year, it could be good timing.
And it sounds as if show bosses are prepared to dig deep to book the star.
A source told The Sun: “Producers think Danny would be great on the series and is their number one target.
“They’re hoping he’ll be finished in time, they’d definitely be up for a big money offer.”
Danny’s Walford exit after nine years as Mick Carter was confirmed in January.
A soap spokesperson said he would be leaving when his contract ends later this year, adding: “Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character, which we shall always be grateful for, however we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford.”
I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have recently suggested the plan is for their show – which usually airs in November – to return Down Under this year.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine last month, Ant said: “We would all like to go back. It is proper home, so fingers crossed.”
And Dec said that while everyone had enjoyed shooting the show at chilly Gwrych Castle in Abergele, the steamy jungle camp in Australia was really the programme’s “spiritual home”.
“We can torment them a bit more in Australia too,” teased the presenter.
