EastEnders fans were left in stitches after they branded Mick Carter and his group of friends the elderly version of One Direction after they joined the Albert Square gym for the first time.
During Thursday’s instalment of the popular BBC One soap, Mick and his band of merry men decided to make a trip to Peter Beale’s new gym on a whim as they rocked bright monochrome tracksuit’s together.
But viewers were left in hysterics as they watched the doting dads’ attempt to get into shape as they started stretching out before they grabbed a weight each.
And their wild day of antics didn’t end there, as the group went on to join in with a speed dating night at the local nightclub where Mick set eyes on Linda lookalike following their traumatic breakup last week.
Peter started with an opening sales pitch for his personalised eight to 10 week workout schedule which he gave out to the group before they started their morning session.
He explained: “As you’ll see, you’ve each got personalised training schedules so if you’re not seeing changes in eight to 10 weeks, well lads, you’re just not working hard enough.
“And its the full price up front for the training programmes with no refunds, and there’s no steroids here, there’s no replacement for natural hard work.”
It was at this point that one of the lads asked Mick: “Are you sure this will work? I’ve got a pair of pants older than this muppet.”
Terry chimed in with his own complaint as he pointed out: “Look, there’s got to be some sort of mistake with my schedule here. I mean look at it – looks like mine is gonna be harder than everyone else’s and I’m supposed to be taking it easy.”
He joked: “50 press-ups and after the third set punch yourself in the face” as the group erupted into laughter.
But the jokes didn’t end there as Mick decided to give a the gym a go as he started stretching in front of the lads.
And fans soon flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on his hilarious workout online.
One user penned: “This is so funny … these trying to get fit … about time we had some comedy #eastenders.”
Another joked: “So glad One Direction got back together #Eastenders.”
A third chimed in with: “Oh my poor eyes, we ain’t goin’ to lose Tom Cotton in the dark with that orange tracksuit #EastEnders.”
