As Emmerdale fans prepare to say goodbye to Faith Dingle after a harrowing breast cancer storyline, some are becoming increasingly worried about family patriarch Zak.
This week saw the Dingles bring the seaside to Faith for her last hurrah, with the entire family rallying around her to give her the best day possible.
But one conversation had fans clued in on the prospect of Zak’s death amid the 50th anniversary episodes, as his chat with Faith seemed to foreshadow his own death.

Taking to Twitter, user Totally Addicted to Soap wrote: “I’m worried about some of the potential foreshadowing they’re doing with Zak, and reckon he could be one of the big casualties next week – him mentioning passing on the baton to the next generation felt like a big nod that his time could be up.
“There was also something about the scene with just Zak and Faith left sitting together on the bench at the end, that felt visually a bit ‘afterlifey’ and left me thinking we’ll be saying goodbye to both of them.”
The user added: “Obviously Steve Halliwell has taken a step back in recent years due to his health, so its hard not to wonder if he had decided to retire and was asked to stay on until the 50th considering he was one of the biggest characters on the show for so long.”
In a harrowing conclusion, the user said: “As a celebration of 50 years it would make sense to say goodbye to a character that is the head of one of the soaps most famous families, and then spending the next couple of months celebrating his legacy as his family grieves.”
It comes after soap bosses promised a huge storyline involving Nate, Sam and Belle for the 50th – which could tie in with Zak’s death.
Executive producer Jane Hudson teased: “Then there is a story that involves Nate, Sam and Belle, which is the one only Emmerdale can do and that’s going to dominate quite a lot of the 50th as well.”
More users piled onto Twitter to share their own thoughts, as one said: “#Emmerdale I think Zak will be next.”
A third pointed out: “I’m sure Zak is going to die after Faith, the hints are all there… his convo with her was especially poignant… #Emmerdale.”
Meanwhile, fans were left in tears on Thursday night as Faith prepared to end her life, saying goodbye to all her family members – with Chas enjoying a hotel stay with Al.
One emotional viewer said: “F***ing hell this is making me cry already and I’m only at the part of Sarah and Faith talking!”
Another echoed: “Got to admit I am not mentally prepared to see Cain cry!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV.
