Eurovision 2022 under fire as fans claim semi-finals are 'rigged' and brand show a 'fix'

Eurovision Song Contest fans have been left absolutely fuming after claims emerge from fans that the show had been “corrupted” following Tuesday’s semi-finals. Some viewers have even threatened to boycott Saturday’s show, which can rack up more than 180million viewers.

Some viewers branded the show “corrupt” as they were left shocked by which acts had been put through to the finals of the competition.

On Tuesday evening, Britain’s television presenters Rylan Clark and Scott Mills introduced the acts for the UK, live from Italy.

Brits were disappointed with the acts that had made it to the semi-finals, with many left reeling as they were shocked with the outcome of the show.

There will be 10 more countries joining following Thursday (12 May) night’s semi-final where the UK will be able to vote for their favourite acts, performing against the Big Five: The UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. On Tuesday night’s episode, viewers and presenters Rylan and Scott were gobsmacked when the Netherlands was favoured over Albania, Denmark and Latvia.

Host Rylan muttered “wow” to himself, as he said: “Netherlands are through. No Albania, no Latvia. Maybe people aren’t a fan of salads.”

Scott responded: “No Austria either, we have lost Denmark.”

Rylan went on to list the countries that had made it through, describing the outcome as: “A few shocks tonight.”

One Twitter user wrote: “No Austria, Bulgaria or Denmark in the Eurovision final? Corrupt. Boycott the show. Enough said.”

Another said: “What’s even the point of Eurovision anymore, it’s clearly all a fix. Albania should have made it through.”

“The most dreadful Eurovision semi-final I’ve ever witnessed in all my years. It’s so obviously rigged,” another complained.

Despite the disappointment, many are pleased to see Sam Ryder, the TikTok singing sensation’s success on the show so far.

One user tweeted: “Ok I’ve just seen the UK performance with my own eyes… this will be Top 10 *at the absolute least*. I now wholeheartedly believe Sam Ryder can actually win this for the United Kingdom! #bbceurovision.”

Another replied: “I am predicting 2nd place for Sam, behind Ukraine. If that happens, I hope the BBC will take the production next year to help out…”
