A fake John Lewis Christmas advert is circulating on social media, with naive viewers completely falling for its misinformation and spreading its hateful message.
The real John Lewis Christmas 2022 advert tells the story of a foster family taking in a young girl, with the man learning how to skateboard like his new foster daughter.
In the fake one – which uses a cover of Spice Girls song Mama – an elderly man can be seen putting on makeup and a dress.

He then leaves his home and the next shot shows the man performing a drag routine at a bar.
The performance goes well and the drag queen toasts their success with a drink with a pal, before it ends with the duo waking up after a heavy night.
The ad – completely devoid of any sort of Christmas feeling – ends with the false message: “A toast to the new Queens of England. Males welcome to use the female changing rooms.”
Of course the message is incorrect, however viewers with an agenda to push have fallen for it – wilfully or ignorantly – and are sharing their thoughts.
While some realised it was a “parody”, albeit in bad taste, others were left fuming over the false message.
In actual fact, the fake advert uses footage from the 2018 movie Tucked, starring Derren Nesbitt and Jordan Stephens.
It tells the story of an ageing drag queen with a terminal illness who begins a new friendship with a younger queen and tries to tie up loose ends before they die.
Speaking of playing a drag queen in the moving movie, Jade Thirlwall’s boyfriend Jordan said in 2019: “I’m conscious of representing an entire demographic of society. I wouldn’t want to misrepresent.”
He went on: “I’ve always been comfortable with all spectrums of sexuality. But representing it on screen, I’ve seen it done questionably. You’ve got a big weight on your shoulders.”
The real John Lewis advert spreads a much more positive and meaningful message, about foster families.
