The residents of Albert Square were shocked to discover Tina’s body underneath the Argee Bhajee in EastEnders – with all eyes turning to who could have murdered her.
Viewers already know that she was one of Gray Atkin’s murder victims – but will this discovery finally lead to the serial killer’s downfall?
The shock discovery has echoes of other soap characters who have since been discovered following their murders, including Callum Logan in Coronation Street in 2016.
Tina and Callum’s murders are just some of soap land’s most gruesome murders in the past twenty years, and Daily Star has decided to take a look at some of the most grisliest.
The body under the patio – Brookside
Brookside were never afraid to push their story lines to new heights, and the body under the patio soon became one of soapland’s most famous murders.
Following years of horrific abuse towards Mandy and her children, husband Trevor Jordache’s reign of terror came to an end in 1993, after Mandy and daughter Beth murdered him.
They later buried him underneath the patio of their house, with help from fellow Brookside close resident Sinbad.
However two years later in 1995, the body was discovered by new house owner Eddie Banks, after he was trying to find a leaking waterpipe connected to the house.
Concerned for Mandy’s safety, Sinbad took the family on the run to Ireland, but they were later arrested and charged with Trevor Jordache’s death.
Mandy was later acquitted of the murder when the horrific abuse she suffered came to light, but Beth sadly died off screen in prison of a genetic heart condition.
Sarah and Kylie Platt end Callum’s reign of terror – Coronation Street
Drug dealer Callum Logan terrorised ex-girlfriend Kylie Platt when he turned up in Weatherfield, and continued to harass the Platt family long after.
While trying to get Callum to confess to his past crimes, he figured out Sarah’s plan and tried to attack her – but not before Kylie killed him first.
After hitting him over the head and killing him instantly, Kylie, Sarah and David buried Callum’s body in the foundations of building work for an annex.
The body was later discovered in 2016, with Coronation Street resident Tony Stewart later blamed for the crime.
Wedding day death – Hollyoaks
Texas Longford was one of many Hollyoaks brides who died on their wedding day, after being pushed out of a window by husband to be Will Savage.
Will had previously tricked Texas into thinking that she had pushed him down the stairs, and after feeling guilty for what had happened, Texas planned to marry Will – despite being in love with his brother Dodger.
However before the big day, Texas planned to run away with Dodger, but not before Will decided to exact his revenge and murder her.
It was one of the biggest whodunnit? stories in Hollyoaks, with Will eventually revealed as Texas’s killer.
Will also met his end at the hands of a murderer too, as he became one of the victims of the village’s notorious Gloved Hand Killer.
Dirty Den’s ‘second death’ – EastEnders
Dirty Den’s shock comeback was a surprise to both EastEnders viewers and his Albert Square residents, after he was presumed dead for over 14 years.
It was not long until he was up to his old tricks however, and tensions began to mount that ultimately led to his demise.
Having tricked Zoe Slater into sleeping with him and ending her relationship with son Dennis Watts, she was out for revenge, along with Den’s new wife Chrissie.
Zoe later hit him with a doorstop, while Chrissie sealed his fate with another deadly blow – with murder witnessed by Phil Mitchell’s sister Sam.
Chrissie later framed Sam for Den’s murder, but after the Mitchells proved her innocence, Chrissie was sentenced to life in prison instead.
Serial killer Richard Hillman murders Maxine Peacock – Coronation Street
Serial killer Richard Hillman murdered three Coronation Street residents during his time on the cobbles, including businessman Duggie Ferguson and ex wife Patrica Hillman.
However, his attempted murder of Emily Bishop ended in disaster for another Coronation Street resident back in 2003.
Richard attempted to kill Emily while she was babysitting Ashley and Maxine Peacock’s son, but he didn’t expect Maxine to return home early.
When Maxine caught him in the act, he killed her instead with a crowbar, leaving a shocked Emily to discover the body along with grieving husband Ashley.
Richard Hillman later met his own demise after he drowned in a car, after he tried to murder Gail Platt and her family by plunging them into a river with him.
B&B shock death – Emmerdale
Fan favourite Gerry Roberts brought Emmerdale some of its lighter, more comedic moments – but his death was one of the most devastating.
Village resident Lachlan planned Gerry’s death in a sickening twist, which saw him tamper with the floor of a B&B that collapsed underneath Gerry.
Gerry suffered horrific injuries from the fall and while he was lying in the rubble, Lachlan sealed his fate with a deadly blow from a piece of cement.
Ben Mitchell murders Heather Trott – EastEnders
Heather Trott was one of EastEnders most popular characters, whose friendship with Shirley Carter became one of the soap’s most heartwarming and enduring relationships.
Viewers were also enthralled when Heather gave birth to baby George, named after her favourite singer George Michael, with the father revealed to be none other than Darren Miller.
Despite her happiness however, Heather was later killed by Ben Mitchell in one of the soap’s most shocking murders.
Following a blazing row, Ben hit Heather over the head with the photo frame, killing her instantly, leaving him and friend Jay Mitchell in shock and racked with guilt.
They kept the murder a secret for several months, but the truth finally came to light when friend Shirley accused Phil Mitchell of causing Heather’s death.
Ben finally confessed to the murder, and was later sentenced to four years in prison for manslaughter.
