Happy Mondays' Bez eliminated from Dancing On Ice after skate off against Sally Dynevor

Bez from The Happy Mondays has been eliminated from Dancing On Ice after a tense skate-off against Sally Dynenor from Coronation Street.

The Happy Mondays’ star was booted off during Musicals Week and after skating to Meatloaf’s Bat Out Of Hell, but some fans of the star are “fuming” at the result.

The latest episode of the hit ITV show saw Bez and Angela dance to Bat Out Of Hell, when the Happy Mondays percussionist arrived on a motorbike with stabilisers before exiting on a flying bat.

Sally and her skating partner Matt skated to a hit number from The Sound Of Music, which saw the Corrie star look exactly like lead character Maria when she donned a night dress and used a bed frame as a prop.

The skate-off saw Sally dance a stunning performance to a song by The Carpenters while wearing a floaty lilac dress and completely a stunning lift seamlessly.

Ashley Banjo was first up to save one of the couples and chose to save Sally and Matt, Oti and Arlene then both saved Sally and Matt, with Chris and Jane also saving the Corrie actress.

The joyous result for Sally means that she will be skating next week during Props Week.

Fans were quick to take to social media to discuss the controversial result, with one writing: “I genuinely think Bez should’ve stayed, he skated on his own and skated well and Sally was in the air and holding on to Matt for the whole skate off, sad #DancingOnIce.”

Bez was clearly firm favourite among viewers, with one writing: “Well done Bez. He should be proud of how far he came. He left on a high dancing on the ice to his own song. He improved every week for someone who’s never ice skated before & even skated alone. He brought the entertainment to our home every Sunday. I’ll miss him. #DancingOnIce.”

Another “fuming” fan penned: “No way should Bez have gone tonight!! (In past weeks he should have as the other skaters were better) but not tonight! Sally is carried round the ice every single minute each week, hopeless & terrified. At least Bez skates independently and tries to do it! Fuming!!!! #dancingonice.”

But there were many viewers who were overjoyed that Sally had made it through to next week, which will be week seven of the competition.

In support of the Corrie star one fan said: “Sally comes across as such a lovely lady, watching her skate I really admire her, being a similar age it’s not easy learning a new skill like skating, you’re great Sally! #DancingOnIce.”

Sunday night’s episode saw the celebrities skate along to hits from an array of popular musicals with their trusted professional skating partners.

From Hairspray to The Sound Of Music, the celebrities danced and skated up a storm for the judges – some pairings gaining high scores and others failing to get more than 5.0.

Last week Love Island’s Liberty Poole was booted off the skating show, one week after Kye went up against S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens, but it was time up for the singing sensation as she was eliminated.

Rachel became the third to be eliminated, following Ria Hebden and Ben Foden.

Next week the remaining couples will take part in Props Week – a popular week among viewers because it sees the stars skate with props like hats,

Dancing On Ice airs every Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
