Harvey Weinstein to be charged with two counts of indecent assault

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, 70, will be charged with two counts of indecent assault against a woman in London, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon (June 8) it had been authorised to charge the former film-director which reportedly took place between 31 Jul and 31 August 1996 in the heart of London.

The force added that the alleged victim is now believed to be in her 50s as they updated the public on their latest developments into the investigation.

Once the CPS authorises charges, the suspect must be formally charged by police before the case goes to court.
