Holly Willoughby has explained her lengthy This Morning absence as she finally returned to the sofa.
Thursday’s episode of the ITV series saw the 40-year-old presenter make her long-awaited return after taking time off from the series to film her forthcoming BBC show Superstar Survival.
Joined on hosting duties by Josie Gibson, Holly explained: “I have been away.
“I feel like the blondes have taken over the TV for the day. Who left us in charge?
“I was in Northern Italy up in the Alps and I was doing a new TV show which is coming out later on in the year and it was with Wim Hof… it was completely bonkers but utterly brilliant.”
She added: “We were just doing all sorts of crazy stuff. It was freezing.
“I’ve had heat packs in places I didn’t know existed.”
During her chat with Josie, Holly also revealed that she attempted a cold shower while filming the show.
Posting to Twitter, This Morning fans were quick to share their delight at Holly’s return.
They were also thrilled to see Josie back on screens.
One viewer wrote: “How lovely Holly and Josie are this morning so pleasant and lovely presentation.”
Another commented: “So glad its Holly and Josie., two icons, love them both.”
Meanwhile, a third viewer said: “I’m enjoying #ThisMorning already. Holly and Josie seem great together.”
“Josie and Holly!!! What an iconic duo,” another concluded.
Holly will present Superstar Survival alongside comedian Lee Mack when it airs later this year.
According to an official synopsis shared by the BBC, the six-part series will follow a group of celebrities as they ’embark on an epic adventure of self-improvement, and face a unique test of mental strength like no other’.
This Morning airs from 10am on weekdays on ITV.
