Paired with comedian Seann Walsh, Matt told the star he once trained to become a jockey and sportsman Frankie Dettori traind him to ride.

But after hearing information from the politician’s past, fans were quick to rush to Twitter to share their astonishment.

Matt Hancock previously trained as a jockey

One person wrote: “Matt trained to be a jockey?? He got frostbite in his finger and stopped going to the North Pole?? His life doesn’t seem remotely real.”

Another penned: “I’ve never thought I would hear Matt Hancock say he was training to be a jockey.”

A third said: “I’m sorry WHAT? FRANKIE DETTORI taught MATT HANCOCK how to be a jockey? A JOCKEY??”

While a fourth viewer had a reflective moment and joked: “Matt trained to be a jockey. Same vibes as the apprentice jockey from X Factor that made Louis and Sharon laugh so much that Simon sent them out and Sharon walked into a door.”

The news comes after Charlene White became the first campmate to be voted off the show on Friday night (November 18).

But broadcaster and Loose Women panellist Charlene said Matt ruined her experience on the show.

The 42 year old also admitted that she feared she would lose her job if she appeared sympathetic towards the former health secretary.

In her first interview after leaving the camp, she said: : “I didn’t want anyone to feel like I was being too sympathetic to Matt because that would jeopardise the job that I love and jeopardise my journalistic integrity.

“It would have shattered the impartiality I’ve consistently had the past 20 years.

“In my heart I felt if I didn’t represent those people who are still grieving and still hurting, if I don’t think about them and ask the questions that I want to know regarding his reasoning for going in the jungle… then I’m not doing my job,” she explained.
