Inside Joss Stone's glam life – real name, lavish Devon home and horror murder plot

Joss Stone made quite the comeback when she won after performing as Sausage, but she’s no stranger to showbiz.

After finding success at the young age of 16, Joss has since had an incredible music career as well as a hit podcast., however she dropped off the radar for a while.

The Masked Singer is back for a new series, and Joss is just one of the stars who has had a change in fortune after appearing on it.

Born Joscelyn Eve Stoker, the star later changed it to her stage name Joss Stone.

Joss is the third of four children, and showed an interest in singing and performing at a young age.

She was only 16-years-old when she shot to fame, after her debut album ‘The Soul Sessions’ went to number one in 2003, making her the youngest British female singer to top the UK Album Chart.

Joss went on to win two Brit Awards and a Grammy for her music.

She has sold more than 15 million records worldwide throughout her career.

The ‘Super Duper’ singer says she doesn’t feel as driven for her music career now: “I don’t really feel too bothered about it (my career),” she said.

“But I never want to stop singing because I find it fun. I miss my band, miss music, I miss seeing people smile and having that connection but I don’t know whether I need to be nurturing and massaging my career in the way that I did at 17.”

The star found herself at the centre of a horror murder plot back in 2013.

Kevin Liverpool, 35, and Junior Bradshaw, 32, were guilty of plotting to rob and murder the singer after members of the public thwarted their plan.

They drove from Manchester, planning to head to her home in East Devon, with the car full of equipment and weapons.

Police found a samurai sword, knife and hammers, as well as notes detailing their plot to murder Joss, dump her body in a river and rob her house.

Residents became suspicious after the pair were seen loitering around looking for the location of her house.

Det Sgt Martin Sutcliffe, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said: “When you look at the contents of the car I think it gives a very clear picture of their intentions.

“If these men had found their way to the address then it could have been a very serious incident.”

Supt Steve Parker, Devon and Cornwall Police’s senior investigating officer on the case, said: “I’ve got no doubt that Liverpool and Bradshaw intended to harm Miss Stone and that, without the vigilance of the public and the good work of our officers, they represented a serious threat to her.”

She joked: “I honestly am still in shock. Every night I thought I was going to be unmasked. I even got my roots and lashes done at the very beginning to be ready.

“If I am honest I didn’t really know the rules of the game before I got there. I thought it was if the panel guess you correctly then you have to be unmasked but no, it was the audience that voted for who they liked. Eek!

“That made it even more nerve-racking! I just can’t believe I got so lucky to get so far. I think it was the costume that they liked rather than the singing. But hey ho as long as they were smiling and laughing we all did our jobs well.”

She found out she was expecting just after saying yes to The Masked Singer.

Joss thought it would be “cool for my little baby to watch”.

“I could be like, well guess what? It’s mummy in the sausage. Let’s dress up as a sausage and make kids laugh. Why not?”

Following her Masked Singer win as Sausage, she joked with fans as she shared a video of her cooking a sausage stew at home in a scene of domestic bliss.

Joss frequently hosts cook-along videos on her Instagram, and invites fans to join in and show her their creations too.

The cottage where Joss lives is the home she grew up in, and bought from her parents when they put it up for sale when they split up.

Back in 2012 she told the Telegraph “the countryside just makes me feel better”.

“I guess you love wherever your home happens to be, but for me it is the countryside where I grew up, where there is a forest just up the road and the smell is so clean and fresh,” she added.
