Former Disney actor Shaun Weiss has shocked fans with an amazing transformation as he celebrates landing his first acting role since kicking his drugs habit.
The former child star took to his social media over the weekend to share a rare selfie as he posed in a white tank top with his hair worn long around his shoulders.
Weiss can be seen gazing off into the distance with a beard and a silver chain around his neck
And now the troubled star has announced he will star in Jesus Revolution alongside Kelsey Grammer, where he’ll by playing a “strung-out” Vietnam vet who turns his life around after being baptised by self-avowed “prophet” Lonnie Frisbee.
“John Erwin & Lions Gate for my first role in… a while #JesusRevolutionMovie,” he captioned the shot.
Weiss, 42, largely faded into obscurity after a series of drug-related incidents stretching back to 2017, including an addiction to methamphetamine.
The Mighty Ducks star recently triumphed two years sober after spending a few years bouncing between jail and rehab.
Weiss was finally able to turn things around following an arrest in 2020 and looked like a new man with his clean appearance in a snap posted to Instagram.
The 90s star shared a before-and-after snapshot of himself at the time to commemorate the occasion.
In the first half of the snap, the former child star appeared to be frail, underweight, and pale.
However, in the next half, the actor seemed healthier as his skin complexion looked richer – and most of all, he looked a lot happier.
The caption stated: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 amazing steps.”
The ex-Disney star checked himself into a rehab facility back in March 2020 and has been residing in a sober living centre in California since the start of the pandemic.
Back in 2017, the Freaks and Geeks star was sentenced to 150 days in jail for petty theft but only served 12 when he was released.
He was arrested again for possession of methamphetamine in Burbank, California.
After serving about 90 days, Shaun was locked up a year later in August 2018 for public intoxication.
Then in January of 2020, Shaun was caught breaking into a home while high on methamphetamine.
He reportedly busted into a man’s garage in Van Nuys, California, and allegedly smashed the man’s car windshield at 7am, according to the Marysville Police Department.
Back in July 2021, the burglary case was dismissed as the actor successfully completed the drug court program and reached 18 months of sobriety from his meth addiction, according to TMZ.
