Neighbours fans 'work out' why Kylie Minogue hardly spoke in soap's final episode

Neighbours fans are convinced they have worked out why Kylie Minogue only had a few lines in her cameo appearance of the final ever episode.

Last week, the popstar returned to the Australian soap for the hour-long special where she reprised her famous role as Charlene Robinson for the first time in 37 years.

The 54-year-old songstress played a leading role in the Channel 5 show between 1986 to 1988 and was one of the main characters in possible the most-viewers weddings in soap history.

At the time, a staggering 19.8million UK viewers tuned in to watch Charlene tie the knot with Scott Robinson, played by fellow singer Jason Donovan, back in November 1988.

The dynamic duo has gone on to have quite the lasting success in the UK since they left the Aussie soap both as musicians and actors in their own rights.

After the TV bosses announced that the show was coming to an end, the pair confirmed they would be returning to the place where their careers first took off for Neighbours’ final hurrah.

As they arrived on the street for the final episode, their epic duet Especially for You was heard playing on the radio as they pulled into the driveway.

As the parked outside their brand-new family home, Scott leaned in to kiss Charlene on the head in the heartfelt moment as he muttered “Wow, wow, wow. This is crazy. We made it eh?”

She agreed, added: “Home sweet home.”

However, Charlene’s only other line in her cameo appearance was when she exclaimed “Harold!” after she spotted the fan favourite character Harold Bishop.

Neighbours fans soon flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on her lack of lines in the final episode when they were left disappointed by her blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the show.

One user penned: “Was Kylie’s fee per word too high or did she not have much time to rehearse? She barely spoke!”

Another quipped: “Kylie Minogue definitely got paid by the word there didn’t she” followed by a cry laughing emoji.

A third fan said: “Wondering how much Kylie charged per word for them to literally give her two words to say the whole episode.”

“Kylie is clearly far too famous to be expected to learn any lines,” another viewer chimed in with.

Neighbours has been a hugely popular show in the UK since its inception back in 1985 but it was confirmed earlier this year that the soap would come to an end this summer.
