News anchor suffers stroke live on TV and struggles to read teleprompter

A news anchor was seen suffering the beginning of a stroke live on TV as she struggled to speak before being rushed to hospital.

Oklahoma-based announcer, Julie Chin of Tulsa NBC affiliate KJRH, was suddenly unable to read off her teleprompter on Saturday morning (September 3).

The footage shows the news anchor stumbling over her words as she reads a report on NASA’s cancelled Artemis-I launch.

“I’m sorry, something is going on with me this morning,” Ms Chin said, after struggling to read the teleprompter.

She passed over to weather woman Annie Brown who reassured her that she was fine and it was just one of those days.

However, Ms Chin later confirmed on Facebook that she had been to the hospital and doctors believe she had suffered “the beginnings of a stroke” during the live broadcast.

“The past few days are still a little bit of a mystery, but my doctors believe I had the beginnings of a stroke live on the air Saturday morning,” she wrote on Sunday, September 4.

“Some of you witnessed it first-hand, and I’m so sorry that happened. The episode seemed to have come out of nowhere. I felt great before our show. However, over the course of several minutes during our newscast, things started to happen.

“A little bit later my hand and arm went numb. Then, I knew I was in big trouble when my mouth would not speak the words that were right in front of me on the teleprompter.”
