Kids’ TV legend Paul Chuckle has pocketed almost £40,000 flogging personalised video messages.
During the short clips, actor Paul will wish fans a happy birthday, quote the Chuckle Brothers’ famous catchphrases or simply just say hello.
The comedy star charges fans £41, but will also promote businesses by recording a promotional clip for £259 on websites Cameo and Celebs VM.
Paul, 74, has more than 800 five-star reviews on the sites, including: “Thank you so much Paul. You made an 18th birthday 1,000 times better. Your energy put a smile on everyone’s face, as it has done for years.”
It’s thought that Paul decided to focus his attention on selling the videos after a string of jobs including Panto and a DJ tour across the country were scrapped due to the pandemic.
It was recently announced that a children’s play area on the estate where Paul and his brother Barry, who died in 2018 aged 73, will be renamed in their honour.
Councillor Michael Bennett-Sylvester said that the proposed Chuckle Park will “inspire” local youngsters on the East Herringthorpe estate in Rotherham.
Mr Bennett-Sylvester said that the famous duo had “given us lots of joy”, so their name would be fitting for the estate’s Oldfield Road Play Area.
He added that the area was “incredibly poor for facilities, especially for young people, there’s nothing on the estate, but we’ve got this one play area – we’ve secured some funding to do some improvements to it”.
Chuckle Park has been put forward as a name for the play area, but Mr Bennett-Sylvester said he was keen to hear other suggestions too.
