Phillip Schofield tests positive for Covid 'throwing two major ITV shows into chaos'

Presenter Phillip Schofield has tested positive for Covid-19.

The ITV veteran who is known for hosting his daily show This Morning and Sunday’s Dancing On Ice took to Instagram on Monday evening to share the unexpected news with his legions of fans online.

Phillip, 59, posted a photo of his positive lateral flow test which left many of his online followers surprised.

Clearly disappointed by the result, the TV host captioned the snap: “Oh b******s.”

He also added: “Currently just a slightly sore throat.”

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.

Phillip presented This Morning on Monday alongside Rochelle Humes. He was also seen hosting Dancing On Ice as usual with Holly Willoughby.

The unexpected news is another blow for ITV bosses after the virus caused chaos on last year’s Dancing On Ice, as many stars tested positive.

Earlier this month, Happy Monday’s star Bez also caught the virus and was forced to miss training due to his self-isolation period.

However, the star was back on the ice on Sunday night’s show and thrilled fans with his performance.

To follow the government guidelines, Phil will now have to self-isolate for at least five days and he will need two negative lateral flows tests before he is allowed on the set of Dancing On Ice on Sunday.

However, this will mean that he will not be allowed to present This Morning from Tuesday onwards.

At the moment, his co-host Holly has not been on the show for several days due to other pursuits.

Publication The Sun recently revealed that Holly is taking a break from her regular morning programme to work on Wim Iceman’ Hof’s Superstar Survival with Lee Mack in Southern Europe.

According to the newspaper, a source said: “She has high career ambitions and is starting the year as she means to go on.

“However, she absolutely loves This Morning and her on-screen partnership with Phillip, so isn’t going anywhere long-term.

“She’s just grateful ITV bosses are giving her the freedom to do her own projects.”

Viewers will have to wait to see when Holly will return to the popular daytime show.
