Rylan has said his weight plummeted to under 10 stone and that he became “unwell” after the collapse of his marriage.
The Strictly: It Takes Two presenter split from Dan Neal this year after six years of marriage, and took a long break from social media and the spotlight as he dealt with the breakdown of the relationship.
In a new interview, Rylan has shared the emotional and physical heartache he felt during the breakdown of his relationship.
He told The Sun: “I got ill and I lost weight, I went down to under ten stone – and I’m six feet four inches, so that’s not good.”
“The honest truth is that it’s been s***. I didn’t deal with what happened and now I am. I felt unwell and it was a very difficult time for me.”
Rylan said his mum was “a lifesaver” and that a new personal training and nutrition plan proved to be a bit of “therapy” for him.
He has now gained more than four stone and is feeling good about himself.
The 33-year-old said: “Getting fit and looking after my body has saved me. Fitness has given me a goal.”
Rylan said his new regime was a great distraction and also allowed him to “release a lot of emotion” in the wake of his marriage ending.
“It’s done more for my mental health than it has for my body, which is a crazy thing to say because you can physically see the body change,” he said.
Rylan and Dan met on Big Brother’s Bit On The Side in 2013, when Rylan was hosting and Dan was a contestant.
They got engaged in 2014 and tied the knot the following year.
Supermarket Sweep host Rylan took his hubby’s name after they got married and was known as Rylan Clark-Neal.
However, their separation was confirmed in June and the star now appears to have changed his stage name to just Rylan.
