Saffron Barker quickly became one of the most popular YouTube stars in the community and ever since she launched the channel aged 15, she’s only grown.
The 21-year-old now not only films herself for YouTube, but she’s also amassed a large following on Instagram and has stints on TV including Strictly Come Dancing and most recently, The Real Dirty Dancing.
Although she didn’t win Strictly, she did prove herself on The Real Dirty Dancing and the starlet landed the top spot on the show – but that doesn’t mean she’ll be doing multiple shows in the future.
Speaking to Daily Star, Saffron said she only plans to do TV shows that “make sense” for her, and won’t be grabbing at every offer with both hands.
The star added that she loves dancing, which is why both Strictly and The Real Dirty Dancing was the perfect option for her – but it didn’t stop her from being nervous.
She said: “With TV I get a bit nervous because you don’t know how they’re going to edit something. I’m not very used to that.
“Although I’m filming my life and stuff I get complete say as to how it’s edited, even how I film, it’s at the angle I choose to be filmed out, whereas they’re filming you 24/7 and you have no idea what they’re going to do with that.
“I think that definitely scares me a lot. But you’ve just got to trust that you come across well and I think if you can be yourself then you can’t ask for anymore than that.
“So while it makes me a bit nervous at the same time I know who I am as a person.”
Saffron has spent most of her career on YouTube and building up her following organically – and she loves being in front of the camera.
Aside from being able to earn a living by vlogging about her life, Saffron also gets to look back at an abundance of memories dating back to her teenage years.
One thing she adores above all else is her followers, with Saffron adding: “The thing that I love is the fact that I can make a video that can entertain someone for like 10 minutes.
“I always get so many comments, especially from young girls to say that the video has made them happy, and that’s what I enjoy the most. The fact that I can make other people smile just through the videos I make.”
However, videos aren’t all she has her eyes on.
Long term, the blonde YouTuber wants to work on a radio show, confessing that it’s her “biggest goal” in her future.
Saffron said that radio presenting is something she is “manifesting” and although she’s not expecting it short-term, she’s hoping that years down the line she can be in a studio and chatting away on various radio shows.
With an influx of followers on both her YouTube and Instagram accounts, with 2.48million subs on YouTube and 1.8m on Instagram, it’s likely that her fans would only support her transition to radio even further.
