The Chase viewers were left doing a double-take at a TV star lookalike contestant during the latest episode of the ITV gameshow.
As four new contestants took on Paul Sinha, aka The Sinnerman, viewers were distracted by 41-year-old hopeful Jascha, after fans spotted an uncanny resemblance to comedian Russell Kane.
Immediately, viewers at home took to social media to compare the charity grants manager from London to his funnyman doppelganger.
One wrote on Twitter: ” It’s a Poundland Russell Kane!”
A second agreed: “Genuinely thought @russell_kane was on #TheChase.”
“How come Russell Kane is on the normal version of The Chase?” said a third, while a fourth added: “Just tuned into #thechase what’s Russell Kane doing on here?”
Jascha soared through his Q&A bagging £9k ahead of his head-to-head with chaser Paul, who he admitted was the chaser he’d most like to face before he appeared.
Paul, 51, recently opened up about his Parkinson’s Disease and admitted his fears every time he gets a quiz question wrong.
He told Radio Times: “Every time I get a question wrong in a quiz that I used to know the answer to, I think, ‘Should I be worried?’
“And then I realise that everybody does it. I’m just quite pragmatic about it.
“Yes, I’m 51, and I’ve got Parkinson’s – things are going to fall out of my head, things are going to stay in my head.”
The show has featured many lookalike contestants over the years.
Viewers recently compared contestant Gordon to the actor who played Argus Filch in Harry Potter, with one viewer tweeting: “Tonight the role of Gordon will be played by renowned actor David Bradley.”
Another episode saw viewers distracted by contestant Makyla’s appearance and how she looked like a famous TV star.
With her animal print blouse and short perfectly styled hair, many felt the 50-year-old resembled Anne Diamond.
One contestant who appeared in 2021 was even dubbed the spitting image of chaser Jenny Ryan.
Viewers dubbed contestant Ellis and chaser Jenny the battle of the barnets aa the two shares the same beehive hairstyle.
Fans were gobsmacked about the similarity of the two rivals as they went head to head on the ITV game show.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “@thechase hope Jenny’s the chaser…..we could have a beehive off with seat 2.”
A second added: “Jenny to be the Chaser for a battle of the Barnetts? #TheChase.”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
