This Morning guest Nicola Thorp apologised after mistakenly stating that Queen Elizabeth II had “just recovered from Covid” during the latest episode.
The former Coronation Street star, 33, appeared opposite presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on Thursday’s show.
Nicola featured alongside guest panellist Vanessa Feltz in a discussion about the Queen returning to her royal duties when the blunder was made.
Of the monarch, Nicola said: “Bless her, yeah, she’s just recovered from Covid of course, don’t forget – and we know that the Queen, she really cares about her service.
“She cares about her work. Going out to visit people.
“She’s not been able to do that for the past week – obviously, she lost Phillip last year – and obviously, this is a real opportunity for her to kind of lift her spirits.”
A few minutes later, Dermot attempted to correct Nicola’s mistake, as Her Majesty has not been reported to have had the virus.
He said: “One correction. I think you said the Queen had Covid.
“Obviously, Prince Charles had Covid and we didn’t know about the Queen.”
An embarrassed looking Nicola replied: “Sorry. Of course, Prince Charles had Covid. I’m so sorry, nation.”
As the conversation moved on, Nicola brought up her blunder once more.
During a discussion about teacher impartiality, she added: “We’re talking about the truth here.
“I realise that’s very rich from someone who’s just said that the Queen had Covid.”
Later in the programme, Nicola stated her opinion that the Queen should ‘completely cut off’ her links with her son Prince Andrew.
Nicola added: “When it comes to links with Prince Andrew, I kind of just wish she’d completely cut him off.
“If she didn’t want the Andrew scandal to overshadow the Jubilee, why is he still the Duke of York? Why has he still got certain military titles?
“Cut him out completely and let him pay for his own legal fees.”
This Morning airs from 10am on weekdays on ITV.
