A Place in the Sun’s Jean Johansson took a jibe at her dog-loving guest during a search for her dream holiday home in Spain.
House hunter Danuta, from Leicestershire, wanted to relocate to the sunny seaside city of Valencia and with a budget of £120,000, she hoped to find a two-bed flat.
The retired English teacher shared her wishlist to Jean – including a balcony, a close proximity to the beach and a dog-friendly environment for her pooch called Elsie Pumpkin.

To show what Danuta’s budget could get on the outskirt of the city, Jean took her to Puerto de Sagunto for a top-floor apartment with a large terrace facing the sea at the price of £113,500.

Danuta was surprised when she stepped inside the two-bed flat, saying: “The light and the terrace, nice, big room.
“I even like all the dark furniture because it’s contemporary. You’ve topped it again Jean, I don’t know how you do it.”
Pal, Rachel, chimed in and agreed: “Yes, this feels you.”
Standing at the huge balcony, Danuta added: “It’s just everything I’ve asked for – it’s got a big terrance, open plan, pool, near the beach, easy access to Valencia.”

“What about Elsie Pumpkin?” Jean asked and the guest replied: “Oh Elsie Pumpkin, I can feel her now telling – ‘go for it’.”
The Channel 4 host joked: “Well I’ve never had a dog making the decision before but if you think she’ll like it, that’s great.
“Still got a couple of rooms to see, so go back in, the two of you.”
Viewers also realised Danuta’s love for her dog, with one saying: “She should at least show the dog what she is looking at via video call.”

Another complained: “Wish she’d shut up about Elsie Pumpkin.”
“A quick one second Google tells you that Elsie Pumpkin has a TikTok account,” a third joked.
After a quick tour inside the flat, Danuta said it’s a contender for her to consider locking in as her holiday home.
