Amy Childs has revealed the chilling story of how her baby almost died inside of her and was only saved after an emergency C-section.
The TOWIE legend, 33, is a doting mum to four beautiful children. Her most recent additions to the family came in the form of twins Billy River and Amelia Mae, who were welcomed into the world by Amy and dad Billy Delbosq, known for being on Channel 4 hit First Dates.
But speaking to GK Barry on her Saving Grace podcast, the reality star recently opened up on a horrifying story that almost cost one of her newborn children’s life. Amy admitted that she was “traumatised” by the birth and that she was scared for her and her babies.

Amy recalled how when coming for a final check before giving birth, during which doctors induced her so she could welcome her babies quicker. During the check-up, midwives had asked her whether she wanted a natural birth or a C-section, to which Amy said natural, as she was “all about natural births”.
However, during the check-up, one of the midwives looking after Childs noticed something was wrong and investigated further. Amy admitted that she knew there was a problem, but could not tell exactly what was wrong.
“Twin A, Bill, had his head down. And then all of a sudden, the midwife checked me and she’s like, ‘Ooh, one minute’ and you just know, don’t you?” Amy admitted. “I had about 10 midwives and doctors run in.
“She said to Bill, ‘Put your scrubs on, she’s got to have an emergency C-section, come on Amy’,” she continued. Amy went on to say that the umbilical chord usually attached to Bill had started to come away from the baby, which could potentially starve the baby of oxygen and cause brain damage.
Luckily, the midwife had spotted the issue and called for attention as soon as possible, which meant that Bill was delivered healthy. However, the rush to the theatre to perform the C-section was particularly tough on the couple, as the midwife was forced to put her hand inside Amy to ensure the chord did not come away from the unborn child.
“It was so traumatic,” Amy recalled as she became emotional. “I just said to her, ‘What would have happened?’ and she said that the baby would have died,” although Amy did insist that she was told the horrifying news after she had given birth to the twins.
When asked about how she found the birthing experience, Amy once again described it as “traumatic”. “I really wish I would have listened to my mum; she said to have a C-section because it all would have been planned,” she confessed.
Looking back on her experience, she said that she went through immense trauma welcoming her children into the world. She added that now, Billy is still “quite needy”, which she put down to his terrifying experience of being born.
