BBC Antiques Roadshow fans gobsmacked as woman unveils ‘rudest antique yet’ in X-rated segment

Fans of Antiques Roadshow were left in disbelief after a guest showcased a necklace which had a rather funny backstory.

During the Sunday night show (December 24) Fiona Bruce led viewers down memory lane as she revisited some of the items that were previously brought in by guests. But later on in the programme, fans’ attentions seemed to peek, as they were treated to more innuendos than they bargained for.

A guest brought a beautiful necklace and earrings set onto the show to be valued by expert Susan Rumfitt. Susan asked the guest how she came to possess her items.

The woman replied: “Well, it was my husband’s great great Aunt Fanny who lived in Cockermouth and she was born in 1850’s and died in 1951 and she inherited all the jewellery from her sisters.

“None of them had children of their own so she passed these on to my mother-in-law and my mother-in-law in turn has passed them on to my daughters. They’re in the family but we obviously know little about them!”

As the lady continued to give a brief history of the collection, fans were clearly distracted at this point, as they headed over to X formerly known as Twitter to share their views. One fan wrote: “Pearl Necklace? Aunt Fanny? Cockermouth? How many innuendos is this woman trying to fit into one sentence?”

Another said: “Aunt Fanny from Cockermouth? Seriously.” A third chimed: “Just watching #antiquesroadshow and the lady said it was my Great aunt fannies from Cockermouth,” followed by a laughing emoji.

A fourth added: “Saucy episode of the #AntiquesRoadshow that… Pearl Necklace, Aunt Fanny, and Cockermouth all uttered within 60-seconds of one another.…” While another penned: “Aunt Fanny who lives in Cockermouth? Come on guys.”

The items were a big deal

Speaking about the jewels, expert Susan was impressed with Victorian styled pieces. She also said that it is “more than likely” British.

The expert then said the jewelry is roughly worth around £4,000 altogether. Impressed by the figure, the guest then said: “Wow, you lucky girls, that’s all I can say.”
