CBBC Balamory duo ‘unrecognisable’ after reuniting for new show 18 years later

Two of the cast members from iconic children’s TV show Balamory have reunited for a new project, years after the CBBC show ended.

Balamory became a staple of the BBC’s children’s programmes, first being broadcast in 2002. The show would run for three years before ending in 2005, after four seasons.

However, the show has remained deep within viewers, who have since grown up and had their own children, who are now watching the show. The programme reflected on life in a small Scottish town, with a variety of different characters and professions.

Andrew played the role of police officer PC Plum on the hit kids show, whose character’s colour centred around white. Nimmo, played the main character of teacher Miss Hoolie, who welcomed viewers as well as bidding them farewell at the end of each episode.

In the clip, the pair were seen to be joking around, asking would anyone be able to recognise them. “Do you think anyone will spy us?” Julie asked.

Fans were taken aback that the pair had been working together

Agnew asked the question again, before sarcastically quipping: “We have aged slightly,” before Nimmo cut in, insisting: “We can’t be that old!” Andrew then joked: “Don’t look at my grey beard,” before the pair erupted into laughter and embraced each other.

Captioning the post, bosses at Cbeebies wrote: “Did you spot this Easter egg in the new Olga da Polga series? Watch Series 2 on BBC iPlayer!” Stunned fans immediately took to the comments section to rejoice in the little reunion.

One fan was quick to point out the connection in the video, simply writing: “What’s the story in Balamory?????” A second user also joined in the nostalgia, taking to the comments section to say: “Core memory UNLOCKED: I’m PC Pluuuuum and I’ll tell you what I’ve done…”

Several fans also called on the BBC to revive the series and bring the show back to its former glory. A third viewer wrote: “I know the Beeb won’t fork out for a Balamory reboot, but can we at least have repeats for this new generation? My kids have no idea what I’m doing when I randomly sing ‘Here’s your haaandbaaag’.”
