Celeb hairstylist was ‘shocked’ meeting Una Healy as they dish on stars’ lingerie shoots

Celebrity hairstylist James Johnson has spent years dolling up reality stars but is now in front of the camera himself.

James has now fronted an Ann Summers campaign of his own, after working on models behind the scenes for years, and has become the first-ever male to have an edit with the brand.

His famous roster includes Lucie Donlan and Tasha Ghouri who have dolled up in the brand’s lingerie before, and bosses liked him so much they’ve asked him to model for them too.

The glam hairdresser revealed how he was offered the role and said: “I started doing the hair and I worked on Lucy Donlan for Ann Summer’s collection and then I started doing their other campaigns.

“I’ve got a whole new respect for everyone who does it in front of the camera, it’s not as easy as it looks but it’s nice to get another string to my bow.

“I’ve always enjoyed being on camera and I’m lucky to be in that world where it’s normal. I’m constantly around it in this industry, and this one has gone so well so I imagine there will be more.

“People think lingerie straight away, and yes there is lingerie in my edit, but there are some stuff you can wear every day or on a night out.”

But what is it like on set with the stars – does he ever get nervous?

“I think I’m over it now,” he explained.

“Because I’ve been around it now, but the most starstruck I’ve been is with Una Healy as I was a huge Saturdays fan. I mean, I’ve worked with Mel B, and arguably a Spice Girl is a lot bigger than Una, but I was like ‘Oh my god’.”

James has also worked on the likes of X Factor so has also been given a taste of the TV world and has some projects in the works.

He explained: “X Factor was my first job actually, there were celebrities everywhere, John Legend, Zara Larsson and Little Mix were all walking around.

I never did Simon’s hair, the judges had their own glam squad but he was like the head teacher at school. You didn’t want to be a*** licky but you didn’t want to be rude so you did like an odd little smirk. He’s TV royalty isn’t he?”
