Comedian Lee Mack says people can’t believe he met his wife before fame as she’s so pretty

The comedian, 54, says he and Tara fell for each other at university, way before he reached the pinnacle of his career.

“Her sister met Tara and said ‘I assume you two have been together after you became a comedian and a bit of money.’

“And I said ‘no, no, we met before I ever was a comedian when we were at university.’

“And she looked aghast at why this woman would be with me.

“And do you know what she said? ‘Did you save her life or something?’

“I thought that’s an incredibly bold statement to make after five minutes of meeting someone.”

Lee is expected to participate in Soccer Aid this year and has joked he is representing “every overweight dad.”

He will again play with World XI FC, the team who have won the game for four consecutive years.

Lee said: “I’m there to represent every overweight dad who’s deluded and thinks he’s good. That’s what I represent. And no one does that better than me. I’m really deluded. I’m the best at being deluded, I am Champions League level of delusion.”
