Coronation Street Harvey return teased as soap boss says Damon showdown is 'tantalising'

Coronation Street bad boy Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) could be about to return to Weatherfield.

The drug lord terrorised Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) after she worked with the police to exposed his gang in order to protect her son Simon Barlow (Alex Bain), who was working for him at the time.

He’s currently behind bars after killing Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac), believing her to be Leanne after escaping from a prison van to seek revenge.

However, fans of the ITV soap may see Harvey back on the cobbles in the near future.

His brother Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) is currently stomping around Weatherfield and soap boss Iain MacLeod says that he’d “love” to see the siblings go head-to-head.

He told Daily Star and other press back in December last year: “I would love to think that some point in the future that we could revisit Harvey.

“It’s tricky when fictional characters are in jail but we’ve overcome more difficult hurdles than that in the past.

“I’d love to think that at some point we’d be able to get Harvey back out on the street and stick him in a room with Damon, who would be blood enemies by the time he gets out.

“The idea of Harvey verses Damon in the future is kind of tantalising.”

Iain teased that there may be a return in the pipeline for another former Weatherfield too.

“It’s been discussed that Sharon might make a return but nothing on the table yet,” he explained.

Damon has been trying to woo Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) in recent scenes behind her husband Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson) back.

In scenes set to air next week, Damon finds Sarah eating alone in the Rovers and reminds her that his sole intention is to get her into bed.

Sarah later tears a strip off of Damon and tells him that because of him and his thugs Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) is too scared to come round to their house and it’s time he put things right.

Can Sarah be the one to make Damon change his ways, or should she watch her back?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
